How to become a Licensed Texas Claims Adjuster
Texas Dept of Insurance Requirements
In order to become licensed in Texas, you must:
- Complete a certified adjuster pre-licensing course, or complete the Thomson-Prometric State Exam.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be a US citizen or possess a work authorization from the US Immigration and Naturalization Services
Reciprocity
Non-resident applicants who hold a license in a state that allows Texas adjusters to operate within their jurisdiction, do not need to take the state exam or pre-licensing course.
The Licensing Process
- You need to complete your Texas Adjuster Application after receiving our certificate and mail both to TDI with a $50 application fee.

How to Maintain Your Texas Adjuster License
- You must complete 30 hours of CE courses for each 2 year reporting period.
- 2 of the CE hours must be in Adjusters Ethics or Consumer Protection (or 1 of each).
Fees Associated With The Texas Adjuster License
- $50 initial licensing fee.
- $35 for renewals.
